      Avrom-Nokhem Stencl Lectures
published by the Oxford Centre for Postgraduate Hebrew Studies
(later the Oxford Centre for Hebrew and Jewish Studies)
in memory of Avrom-Nokhem Stencl [Shtentsl] (Abraham Nahum Stencl)
vols. 1–6, 1984–1989

The Stencl Lecture series was initiated by Dovid Katz in 1983 at the Oxford Summer Program in Yiddish Language and Literature to honor the life and work of Whitechapel Yiddish poet Avrom-Nokhem Stencl (Abraham Nahum Stencel / Avrum-Nukhem Shtentsl] (1897–1983). The first six lectures were published in pamphlet form under the editorship of Dovid Katz.

An essay in Yiddish by Dovid Katz on the life and poetry of Avrom-Nokhem Stencl appeared in Yidishe kultur (ed. Itche Goldberg), vol. 56.3 (May-June 1993), pp. 22-34; an adapted English translation thereof by Leonard Prager appeared in Mendele in March 2003.
